Mudskipper Swimrun Challenge!

Ian Feldman, President, Canaqua Sports and the founder of the Mudskipper Swimrun Challenge says:

"Since our first race in 2017, we have been adding races as we work to grow Swimrun across Canada. After canceling our season in 2020 due to Covid-19 and getting through with a limited number of events in 2021, we are now positioned to run a full slate of events for 2025 across Canada and the USA, and we will also run an event in the United Kingdom this year.

Mudskipper Championship Series - NEW FOR 2025

New for 2025, the Mudskipper International Championship Series. There are FOUR championship events in four great locations. These events are longer and more challenging than the standard Mudskipper Challenge events. Watch for more events to be added in the future.

The Championship Races include:

St Donat, Quebec Swimrun Championships July 27 – St Donat, Quebec
Mudskipper Canadian Individual SwimRun Championships August 17 – Parry Sound, Ontario.
Sasamat Fresh and Salty, B.C. Championships September 21 – Vancouver, B.C.
Mudskipper U.S. Individual Swimrun Championships - September 28 – Deam Lake, Indiana, USA

Events 2025

Sasamat Ice Cracker

Date: 04 May, 2025

Venue: Sasamat Lake, Port Moody, BC

Swim and run in and around Sasamat Lake as you complete Mudskipper's first ever Swimrun event in the Vancouver area. The 13 km event includes 2 laps of the Sasamat course that will take you along trails that will challenge your running ability, and swims of different distances through this beautiful lake.

If you would prefer a shorter event, you can do the 6.5 km distance, which is one loop of the full course.

Mudskipper Indiana I, USA

Date: Sunday 1st June 2025

Venue: Deam Lake State Recreation Area

Deam Lake State Recreation Area is an Indiana State Recreation Area in Clark County, Indiana in the United States. The park is 1,300 acres and sits at an elevation of 535 feet. It features great water to swim in and challenging trails for running.

There are 2 events planned for the day;

Mudskipper 10 miles Classic
Mudskipper 18 miles Long distance

Suffolk, England

Date: Sunday 1st June 2025

Mudskipper Swimrun Challenge

Mudskipper Welland

Date: 8th June, 2025

Venue: Welland, Ontario

The Welland Challenge is set in a lovely section of the Welland Canal and includes 3 swims and 2 runs, over a flat and fast course. The longest swim is 1000m and the longest run is 2.5 km.

Mudskipper Finger Lakes

Date: 22nd June 2025

Venue: Geneva, Seneca Lake, New York, USA

Another new Mudskipper event for 2025, with two distances on offer; 9.5 km amd 19.5 km.

Mudskipper Missouri I

Date: 28th June 2025

Venue: Stockton Lake, Missouri, USA

A new event with races of 7.6 km and 15.2 km.

Mudskipper Pinawa

Date: 5th July, 2025

Venue: Manitoba, Canada

New for this year, a swimrun event with 2 races, 4.9 km and 9.85 km.

Collingwood

Date: 6th July, 2025

Venue: Collingwood Harbor, Ontario

New for this year, a 12 km swimrun event that runs parallel with the Georgian Bay Masters Swim Club open water swim races.

Kenora

Date: NOT BEING HELD IN 2025

Venue: Rabbit Lake Trails, Garrow Park, ON

There are three swimrun distances here. The running sections are over trails with relatively rough surfaces - bring your trail shoes! The swim sections are based on a 500 meter course.

The 20 km race is a qualifying event for the Aquaticrunner IWC solo World Championship in Grado, Italy.

Mudskipper Challenge

Parry Sound

Date: 20th July, 2025

Venue: Parry Sound, Ontario

The third time that this event has been held in Parry Sound, there are 2 distances - 10 km and a 20 km.

The 20 km race is a qualifying event for the Aquaticrunner IWC solo World Championship in Grado, Italy.

Mudskipper St. Donat

Date: 27th July 2025

Venue: St. Donat, QC, Canada

There are two race distances at this new St. Donat location, 10 km and 20 km. This event is the first of the four that make up the Mudskipper Championship series.

Cavendish Beach

Date: NOT BEING HELD IN 2025

Venue: Cavendish Beach, New Glasgow, Prince Edward Island

This is a 17 km event that serves as a warm-up for the Summerside race, which is a World Qualifier.

There are plans for a 20 km event here too - watch this space!.

Mudskipper Midsummer Classic

Date: 3rd August 2025

Venue: Welland International Flatwater Centre

This is a 9.2 km swimrun challenge that runs in and around this part of the Welland Recreational Canal. There are seven stages, and this course is flat and FAST!

Mudskipper Pinawa II

Date: 9th and 10th August 2025

Venue: Manitoba, Canada

New for this year, a swimrun event with one race distance, 13.25 miles.

Mudskipper Indiana II

Date: 10th August 2025

Venue: Deam Lake, Borden, USA

New for this year, a swimrun event with one race distance, 13.25 miles.

Mudskipper Canadian Championship

Date: 17th August 2025

Venue: Waubuno Beach, Parry Sound, Ontario

For this event, Mudskipper have put together a brand new 13.5K course. Athletes can do either 1 lap or 2 laps to complete their event, making this either a 13.5 km or a 27km race! The first male and female athletes will be crowned Canadian Champions. As a bonus, they will also qualify for the IWC Individual Swimrun Championship held in Grado, Italy, in September 2026.

AND, this is the second of the four events that make up the Mudskipper Championship Series.

Mudskipper Welland II

Date: 7th September 2025

Venue: Flatwater Centre, Welland, Ontario, Canada

New for this year, a swimrun event with one race distance, 11.7 km.

Date: 14th September 2025

Venue: Stockton Lake, Missouri, USA

New for this year, a swimrun event with distances of 10 km and 20 km.

Sasamat 2 Fresh and Salty

Date: 21st September 2025

Venue: Sasamat Lake, Port Moody, BC

The final event of the Canadian season, in Belcarra Regional Park. It starts with a swim in Sasamat Lake and then runs through Belcarra. There are 2 races, of 10 km and a longer distance at 20 km.

This is the third of the four events that make up the Mudskipper Championship Series.

Mudskipper Indiana III, USA

Date: Sunday 28th September 2025

Venue: Deam Lake State Recreation Area, Borden, USA

The third Mudskipper Indiana event has a single distance of 19.5 km. This the fourth of the four events that make up the Mudskipper Championship Series.
