Full event info Mudskipper St Donat swimrun, held at the end of July each year. Saint Donat de Montcalm is 90 minutes drive from Montreal, in the Canadian province of Québec.

St-Donat is a beautiful scenic village in the heart of the Laurentians. It is the only village in Quebec with two huge lakes side by side, Lake Archambault and Lake Ouareau.

The July event is the first of FIVE events that are part of the new Mudskipper Championship Series.

How to get there

First you have to get to Québec. The nearest international airport is Montreal (YUL).

Saint-Donat can be reached by two main highways, the 125 and 329, and is 90 minutes from Montreal by car.You can also get the bus. CRT Lanaudière operates a bus from Terminus Radisson to rue Principale / face au bur. Info. Touristique 5 times a week. Tickets cost €2–24 and the journey takes 2h 26m.

There is also a local airport accessible to light aircraft in the village of Saint-Donat.

Where to stay

Canaqua Sports have announced a partnership with Le Grand R resort.

The resort Le Grand R is offering participants a reduced rate for a 2-night stay from July 27 to July 29. Please call Le Grand R (819) 424-1333 to make a reservation and mention that you are participating in this event.

There is no other specific accommodation recommended by Mudskipper, but there is plenty of other choice in the area at AirBnB, Booking.com, and other accommodation websites.


Race distances

The July event offers

  • a Sprint distance of 11 km, 
  • and a longer 'Classic' distance of 22 km.

The 11 km event includes  2.6 km of swimming over 3 legs, and  7.79 km of running, over  3 legs.

The 22 km event involves  5.2 km of swimming over 6legs, and  15.6 km  of running over  legs.

NOTE:  The 22 km event is simply TWO laps of the 11 KM race.


Race routes

What makes this event unique is that they use not just Lake Bouillon, but also a second lake, Lac Long for one of the stages.

 There are restrooms, changing rooms and showers near the Start/Finish area, on the banks of Lake Bouillon.

Energy stations

There are no energy stations around the course, but there is food available at the finish area.

Cut-off times

  • Both 11km and 22km swimrun races start at 9:00am, and the cut-off is 1:30pm.


Weather

Held at the end of July, the weather is mild but a little unpredictable. The water temperature is around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, according to race organiser Canaqua. Wetsuits are not compulsory, but proper trail shoes are strongly recommended for this race.

There is always a chance of cold or wet weather, so you should take suitable clothing for every eventuality!
