Nanoclear Strike mirror goggles by Effortless Swimming - a 2026 review.
Finding the right goggles for open water is one of those things that sounds trivial until you're mid-race, squinting into the sun, with lenses fogged up and pressure marks forming around your eyes.
I've been there plenty of times. So when I got my hands on the NanoClear Strike Mirror Swim Goggles by Effortless Swimming, I put them through proper testing across several swimrun sessions and sea swims to see if they actually hold up.
Short answer: yes, they do. But let me break it down.
The box! These goggles arrived in a nice plastic box which could be used to keep the goggles safe from scratches inside your kit bag. The box also included three extra nose bridge sizes in addition to the one already fitted.
I tested changing the nose bridge for a smaller one, and it's pretty straightforward.
Unboxed! There is also a single-sheet set of instructions, in seven languages. My only gripe here is to do with the size of the text - it's very small! I had to get my reading glasses out!
However, the instructions DO give clear advice on the Nanoclear anti-fog technology; Basically, you have to wet the insides of the lenses with clean water before you put them on. This activates the anti-fog coating.
After a number of swim sessions, dust and oil may build up inside the lenses, but you can re-activate the anti-fog coating by washing the goggles very gently with a little liquid hand soap or baby shampoo.
There is also a fitting guide, to help you get the strap fitting correctly, and choosing the best nose bridge size.
The eye gaskets are high-grade silicone, and the lenses are polycarbonate. The manufacturer offers a 12-month guarantee against any manufacturing defects.

First impressions out of the box — these sit really close to your face. Low profile, minimal bulk. You might not think that matters much, but once you're grinding through a longer swim or dealing with chop, you notice the difference. They don't catch water the way bulkier goggles may do, and they stayed put even when conditions got rough.
The mirrored lenses are where these goggles do really well. I tested them on a couple of bright coastal days here on Gozo (Malta) where the sun was bouncing off the Mediterranean water like crazy.
Normally that kind of glare makes forward sighting a bit difficult — you're basically guessing where you're going. With these goggles, the glare was noticeably reduced. I could actually spot my landmarks without having to shield my eyes or slow down. For swimrun especially, where every second of sighting counts, that's a genuine advantage.
Comfort-wise, I was pleasantly surprised. The silicone gasket is soft but not floppy, so you get a good seal without that vice-grip feeling some racing goggles give you. I wore them for swims well over an hour and came out without the usual raccoon-eye marks.
The strap adjusts easily too, even with cold wet fingers during transitions — which, if you've ever fumbled with a stubborn strap mid-race, you know is no small thing.
Mirror lenses are great in bright conditions. The NanoClear lens anti-fog tech performance was solid throughout my testing. I'll caveat this by saying I was careful not to touch the inside of the lenses — that's true for any goggle with anti-fog coating. But as long as I wet the insides of the lenses with clean water (as recommended), they stayed clear, even on cooler mornings when fogging usually becomes a problem.
In a race situation where stopping to rinse your goggles isn't really an option, that kind of reliability matters a lot.
Durability seems good so far. Swimrun is brutal on gear. You're running through trails, diving into water, scrambling over rocks — goggles take a beating.
These have held up well through multiple sessions. The strap hasn't gone slack, the lenses aren't scratched up, and the overall build feels solid rather than disposable.
Correct strap position is important.A couple of honest caveats though. The mirror coating on the goggles I tested does make things a touch dark in low-light situations. During very early morning swims or on overcast days, I noticed I was wishing for a slightly lighter tint.
If you train mostly at dawn or in grey weather, you might want to consider the models with less tint, or even with clear lenses. There are a LOT of lens options on offer from Effortless Swimming!
Also, the snug fit might feel a bit tight at first if you're coming from more recreational goggles. Give it a swim or two and you'll probably adjust.
Bottom line — after putting these through real conditions across multiple swimrun and open water sessions, I'd recommend the NanoClear Strike Mirror Goggles to anyone who takes their outdoor swimming seriously.
They're comfortable for long swims, the optics are genuinely good in bright conditions, the nanoclear anti-fog tech works very well, and they're built to last. The mirror lens I chose may not be perfect for low lighting scenarios, but there are plenty of alternative lens options from Effortless Swimming!
Recommended for open water swimmers and swimrun athletes.
