As Keen As Mustard SwimRun is a U.K. based SwimRun race organiser. This is a small family-run business aiming to promote the increasingly popular sport of SwimRun.
As stated on their website:
“SwimRun is an adventure race with swim and run sections. The emphasis is on adventure . . .navigating a course through woods, paths and trails and using naturally occurring swim entry and exit points. There are no transitions, any kit you use you carry with you. The courses are signed and tape is used for you to follow the course. You need to be aware, self sufficient and be able to follow signs. It is an awesome experience which puts you in touch with nature and awakens the adventurer in you! ”

Inspired by the international ÖTILLÖ, ”Island to Island” races, As Keen As Mustard events follow the same rules and guidelines, with teams of 2 racing the entire course together, and individuals allowed for shorter distances.
(As Amazon associates, we earn a small commission on any sales.)
The usual swim aids are allowed - hand paddles, pull buoys, and wet suits - and any personal hydration and gels must be carried the entire race. Longer races require you to carry a folding or collapsible water cup for the water stations. It can make a real difference having the right team mate and equipment , as you can find out by reading other pages on this site!
As Keen As Mustard events also offer the opportunity to race as individuals as opposed to competing in teams of 2. If you are having trouble finding a race partner, this could be a way to actually take part in an event, and maybe meet up with a future SwimRun team mate!
Each event has an Intro race of 5km (Bewl Water event is 6km) - these races are excellent if you are new to Swimrun as introductory races to the sport. You can then progress to the longer distances.

There are currently 4 races in the As Keen As Mustard SwimRun Series, during June, July, September and October. Some dates have been set for 2026 and we'll update this page as we receive any new dates.

This is an interesting and exciting format for swimrun - it's basically "last man standing"!
According to the As Keen As Mustard website;
It starts with "a 2.5 km lap, with 2 swims and 3 runs on and around Grafham Water and an ever decreasing time limit to each lap.
Each lap has a start time and finish time. Take it easy to begin with, the first few laps give you plenty of time to complete them at a leisurely pace, but as laps go on, the pressure builds as the time allowed gets shorter. Complete as many laps as you can before the time beats you ... there will be one Survivor, the last person standing!"
